Anyone can make a cup of hot cocoa from a packet, but did you know that everyone can make a delicious cup of homemade hot chocolate from scratch? It’s true, and while I may be a little partial, this is the best homemade hot chocolate recipe you’ll ever try. Ever.

Even better, I bet you already have all the ingredients you need for this hot chocolate recipe right in your kitchen pantry.

Fun fact #1: You may have heard that the darker the chocolate, the greater the health benefits—improved heart health, better cholesterol levels, improved insulin sensitivity, better brain function, better skin health, lower stress levels, decreased cortisol, and more. Do you know why that’s the case? The laundry list of benefits associated with dark chocolate is largely due to the antioxidants (e.g., flavanols, polyphenols) from cocoa, and the darker the chocolate, the higher the cocoa content. Homemade Hot Chocolate Recipe

  1. Heat the almond milk (or milk of choice) and water in a saucepan over low to medium heat until hot, but not boiling.
