NEVER Use This Brand Of Probiotics

As we have discussed this past week, with research suggesting that probiotic supplementation is even more important to your health than taking a daily multivitamin, and the fact that inadequate probiotic levels have been linked through research to more than 170 different major health issues – including obesity and weight gain – we truly believe that EVERYONE should be taking a probiotic supplement daily, ongoing, to continually fight against the bacteria-imbalancing factors that we are constantly exposed to every single day.

But here’s something you may not know…

93% of the probiotics contained in traditional probiotic supplements will be DEAD before they ever reach your gut.

This includes 99% of the brands found online, at your local grocery store, and local pharmacy.

And of course, dead probiotics are completely worthless.

You see, one of the greatest challenges in creating a truly effective probiotic formula is being able to actually deliver delicate probiotic cells to the gastrointestinal tract, fully intact and alive.

Because probiotics are living bacteria, they are also extremely sensitive to even the slightest change in environmental conditions. In fact, research has shown that after one year on the shelf, in a sealed bottle at room temperature, on average only 32% of conventionally-produced probiotics survive.

And get this, most of the probiotics products you find on store shelves are already well over a year old—some even as much as two years old. After all, big companies produce hundreds of thousands of bottles to cut cost and then store these bottles in their warehouses long before they ever end up in your hands.

    But it gets worse.

Due to the extreme acidic environment of the stomach, another 80% of the remaining live probiotic cells will be killed off before reaching the intestine. In the end, traditional probiotic supplements, while claiming billions upon billions of active cells per dose, will only wind up delivering a measly 6.4% of what their label promises, alive and well to your gut (with the other 93.6% rendered DEAD and utterly useless).

With that said, you can see how a probiotic product claiming 20 billion cells is reduced to a mere 1 billion count rather quickly—which may still sound like a lot, but it’s not nearly enough to fend off and turn around your bacterial imbalance.

When it all boils down, not only are these products a complete waste of your time and money, much more importantly, they are robbing you of the critically important health benefits that are the entire reason you would invest in a probiotic product in the first place.

Makes you angry, doesn't it? You trusted your brand of probiotics to deliver an array of benefits to you, but, instead, they've been betraying you with counterfeit pills full of dead cells. Enough to make your blood boil, I know!

Pro-X10Fortunately, there is a solution, and the answer lies in a patented process called Microencapsulation Technology.

Simply put, if the probiotic you are taking is NOT using patented Microencapsulation Technology (again, like 99% of the generic probiotic supplements found online and at your local grocery store and pharmacy), you are literally wasting your time, money, and health by swallowing DEAD probiotic cells daily.

Instead, make sure you are getting what you pay for by investing in a microencapsulated probiotic supplement.

    1. How long do you have to take Pro X-10? Once I start do I have to take it forever? !

      • Hi Cristal,

Thanks so much for sharing your questions with us. First and foremost, thank you very much for your interest in Pro-X10, our advanced probiotic.

As far as your questions go, I think that you might find the following thread over at the BioTrust Community Forums helpful in finding what works best for you:

Building and Maintaining an Optimal Gut Flora

As the research on gut health and gut microbiome continues to expand and demonstrate the far-reaching impact and implications on overall health and nearly every bodily system, manny health professionals argue that it’s more important to take a probiotic supplement daily than a multivitamin. That is not to say, however, that once you start taking it you have to take it forever. Your body doesn’t necessarily become reliant on a probiotic, if that’s what you’re asking.

In short, you can supplement with Pro-X10 daily, ongoing, and generally speaking, that’s what we recommend for optimal health and vitality. However, even taking it for a short period of time (e.g., 3 – 12 months) and/or reducing the serving would be a better option than not taking it at all.

I hope that this is helpful, Cristal. Please let us know if you have any additional questions. Thank you!

        Sincerely,

    2. What is the difference between Keybiotics and Pro X 10? Pro X 10 sounds like Keybiotics with a different label. If I use keybiotics why would I change to Pro x 10?

      • Hi Jose,

Thanks so much for stopping by and for your interest in Pro-X10, our advanced probiotic and GI health supplement.

Unfortunately, we cannot speak to the purity, potency, or effectiveness of another company’s products. While we go to great lengths to assure that our customers will receive high-quality, scientifically-backed, pure and potent products, we are not familiar with the research and development or quality control practices of other companies. We also do not recommend that you take other similar supplements from other companies when taking BioTrust supplements.

With that being said, you may find the following threads over at the BioTrust Community Forums helpful in your comparison of probiotics:

        Pro-X10: What Makes it Different

When considering probiotics, you may consider asking what probiotic strains are included and in what amounts; what technology (e.g., microencapsulation) is incorporated to ensure that the probiotics survive both on the shelf and through the stomach; what additional support nutrients are included (e.g., Actazin); does the company offer a one-year money back guarantee to assess whether or not the probiotic is helping you.

I hope that you find this helpful, Jose. If you have any additional questions, please don’t hesitate to let us know. We look forward to hearing your feedback about Pro-X10!

        Sincerely,

    3. Been working out for about two years during various types of training: running, lifting, and boxing. Dropped from 200 pounds down to the 165-170 range (5’11″ height). Getting stronger but I still have a couple of issues; am totally exhausted at the end of workouts (particularly boxing) and I have the formation of a six pack but it hasn’t gotten any more defined. I’m 40 years old so age and diet may be a bit of an issue, don’t drink much alcohol. Is the Pro X10 a potential solution or what’s the best thing I can use in a situation like this. Thanks!!!

      • Hi Derrick,

Thanks so much for stopping by and for allowing us the opportunity to help! First and foremost, congratulations on your incredible and inspiring body transformation to date. Wow! It sounds like you’ve made some significant changes. Way to go!

We’ll be glad to help you take it to the next level. It sounds like you’re already quite active and pretty lean, so taking it to the “next level” is going to require that you really dial everything in, including your nutrition, supplementation, hydration, sleep, and stress management. Yes, training plays a role too, but there are many factors to consider, and it can be really tough if we don’t address the nutrition side of the equation.

With that in mind, can you tell us a bit more about your nutrition habits? If possible, please be as specific as possible. One thing you may consider is signing up for the following free five-day fat loss video course for men as it really reinforces the foundations of optimal nutrition:

FREE Five-Day Video Course for Men

While we’d like to learn more about your current eating habits, food choices, etc., one of the most important things to address with any nutrition coaching client is nutrient/dietary deficiencies, which I talk about in the latter half of post #2 in this thread over at the BioTrust Community Forums. Speaking generally, the vast majority of folks are deficient in essential vitamins and minerals, omega-3 fatty acids (i.e., essential fatty acids), protein (i.e., essential amino acids), and probiotics (i.e., gut dysbiosis).

This is why I often refer to the following supplements as “foundational”: OmegaKrill 5X, BioTrust Low Carb, and Pro-X10 (as well as a high-quality multivitamin and/or greens powder supplement and even vitamin D). These nutrient deficiencies may be further exacerbated by significant dietary restrictions (e.g., limiting certain food groups, calorie restriction). Those supplements (via addressing nutrient deficiencies) may have “anti-obesity” effects, which would be consistent with your goals.

In addition to addressing nutrient deficiencies, certain supplements may help accelerate the fat loss process by increasing fat burning, decreasing fat storage, keeping fat-burning hormones elevated, and suppressing appetite. In this category of fat-loss-specific supplements, you’ll find LeptiBurn and BellyTrim XP, which can be used together or in isolation. For some additional information about them, you may want to visit the following Forum thread:

        Comparing LeptiBurn and BellyTrim XP

You mentioned that you’re finding it difficult to make it through your training sessions. In this case also, it would be helpful to learn more about your overall nutrition intake as well as any workout nutrition strategies that you may be implementing. Many folks find that BCAAs (branched chain amino acids) come in quite handy during exercise.

BCAAs provide the basis for protein synthesis; in fact, leucine, one of the BCAAs, is known as the “anabolic trigger” and consuming enough of it is critical to building and maintaining muscle mass. Whereas all other amino acids must first pass through the liver where they are degraded, BCAAs are free to be absorbed directly into general circulation. This is especially important during exercise, because they stimulate protein synthesis, and they are also a primary source of energy during intense training.

With that in mind, BCAA Matrix may be a option to consider before and during training to help preserve muscle mass, accelerate recovery, and help maintain blood sugar levels while exercising.

Going back to your question about probiotics, research indicates that the gut flora (i.e., the bacterial ecosystem) of overweight folks differs significantly from that of thin people. Not surprisingly, recent research published in the British Journal of Nutrition suggests that certain probiotics from the Lactobacillus family of bacteria, which you can find in Pro-X10, may help you lose weight and keep it off.

I know there’s a lot here to digest, Derrick, but I hope that you find it helpful. I highly encourage you to take a moment to visit our free Online Coaching Community for additional coaching help as well. Keep up the great work, my friend!

        Sincerely,

        Tim Skwiat

    4. Hey Guys, I’ve been using your protein for a month now and I’ve been noticing great results!
Question about the pro X10 though. I have been suffering from acne for a long time, I’m about to receive your probiotic soon and was wondering if I will notice an improvement in my skin?
      Thanks

      • Hi John,

Thanks so much for reaching out to us and offering us the opportunity to help you! We’re glad you’ve been enjoying Low Carb thus far, and I do believe I have some information which you may find beneficial.

It is first important to note our products are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease. Because we are not doctors and do not know your complete medical history, we advise that you consult your doctor and/or pharmacist about any specific medical question. Further, one should never stop taking any medications without doctor’s approval.

With that said, my first suggestion is to check out the following thread; I give some great information on food sensitivities, and how they might influence one’s skin condition.

Does Food Influence Oil Production And Acne?

There also seems to be a connection between the gut and the skin, which is known as the gut-skin axis. Essentially, the integrity of the gut, or lack thereof, has been directly linked to the skin microbiome. Because Acne vulgaris is a complex disease without a single route of pathogenesis, it’s impossible to know how significant of a role probiotics play in assisting with the condition. However, Lactobacillus acidophilus—which is in Pro-X10—may shows much promise.

Pro-X10 is one of our most multifaceted products with a list of benefits too long to post here, so I’d say it definitely bears consideration. :)

I hope this helps for now, John. Please let us know if you have any questions at all, and thanks again for your awesome question.

      • Hi Kathy,

Thanks so much for stopping by and for sharing your feedback. We are very glad to hear that you and your daughter have had such great success using Pro-X10. That is a fascinating story about your daughter and her friend going to the Dominican Republic.

There is some research that suggests that probiotics may be useful in the prevention of travelers’ diarrhea, specifically strains like Saccharomyces boulardii and Lactobacillus acidophilus, which are found in Pro-X10. Researchers conclude that these probiotics may offer a safe and effective method to prevent travelers’ diarrhea.

We are very glad to hear that both your daughter and her friend are healthy. Thanks again for the great feedback, Kathy!

    7. Hello, among all of the other symptoms you list here that I have such as fatigue, bowel issues, excess fat in my belly, the most severe right now is chronic sickness. In the last 4 weeks I have been on three different strains of antibiotics due to reoccurances of kidney infection and strep throat both. My body is just over it. I am sick and tired of being sick and tired. I’ve missed a lot of work and my sickness is effectively ruining my life in all ways, financially, socially and my own crushed spirit just can’t take any more. I am very interested in pro x 10, but I honestly cannot afford even a 30 day supply right now. In a week or so I will, but I want to get started on making the belly bug situation better right now. Do you have any suggestions on how to prepare my body for this change to come, or some other probiotic choices I can make in the meantime that may help to boost my immunity? Thank you for your time.
      Meghan

      • Hi Meghan,

Thanks so much for stopping by and for sharing your question with us. We are very sorry to hear about your health struggles. We do want to remind you that our products are not intended to treat, cure, or prevent any diseases. Because we are neither doctors nor do we know your entire health history, we recommend discussing any specific medical-related questions with your physician or other qualified healthcare specialist. Please do not adjust any prescription medications without proper approval.

That being said, you’re likely looking in the right place by considering the addition of a probiotic supplement to your arsenal. Based on all of your health issues and your continued exposure to antibiotics, it’s plausible that gut dysbiosis is a real possibility. As Dr. Bryan Walsh discusses in this video, gut dysbiosis can have far-reaching negative impacts on your health. Thus, getting the right amount of healthy probiotics in your gut can have a major positive influence on your overall health.

Probiotics (i.e., healthy bacteria) provide the foundation for gut health. Besides being your digestion center, the gut is home to 80% of the immune system, colloquially-termed the “second brain,” and the most metabolically active system in the body. In the gut, good bacteria displace “bad,” pathogenic bacteria and help synthesize B and K vitamins. What’s more, populating the gut with adequate probiotics is crucial to optimal digestive and overall health, immune system function, mental well being, metabolism and body weight management, and much, much more.

With all that being said, it seems like you may very well be on the right track with Pro-X10. You may also consider downloading the following free report:

The Top 10 Gut Cleansing Foods

You’ll also want to make sure that you download the 11 Foods That Kill Your Gut after you order Pro-X10, as building a solid gut flora is a fine balance between increasing probiotic-rich foods and reducing those foods that kill good bacteria and/or feed the bad bacteria.

        I hope this helps, Meghan!

    8. If you’ve helped 100′s of thousands of people , why aren’t there any positive results reported on this somewhat lengthy list of comments?

    9. Hi! I notice that you use microencapsulation technology. You also state that the potency is five times better than the vast majority of general probiotic supplements?

What I am interested is how your products compare to the elite. How does the potency of your probiotic products using microencapsulation technology compare to a probiotic product using both Bio-Tract and LiveBac combined?
In terms of potency after 12 months, how much of the live bioculture will be alive after passing the stomach? 20%?

      • Hi Jonatan,

Thanks so much for stopping by and for your sharing your question with us. We sincerely appreciate your interest in Pro-X10, our advanced probiotic and gut health formula.

To learn more about the microencapsulation technology, I invite you to take a look at the following thread over at the BioTrust Community Forums. There, I share several peer-reviewed studies that demonstrate the ability of the patented process to “significantly improve gastroresistance of strains, thus enhancing their probiotic activity and allowing the use of a 5 times lower amount.”

        About Pro-X10

That being said, do you have any peer-reviewed clinical data on the methods to which you’ve alluded in your post?

We are confident that Pro-X10 is the best probiotic available on the market today, and we believe you will be very pleased with it and the results it helps you achieve. If you have any additional questions or information that you’d like to add, we encourage you to do so. Thank you, Jonatan!

    10. As a consumer, how difficult making a product choice can be. Of course everyone says that their product is the best. Everyone makes a good point in their sales pitch. 13. Does Pro-X 10 have dairy? I am lactose intolerant and didn’t see anything about that?

      • Hi Cindy,

Thank you so much for your interest in Pro-X10 and for reaching out to us with your question. It is our pleasure to help.

Pro-X10 is completely free from dairy.

Along the lines of your lactose intolerance, have you considered adding AbsorbMax, our full-spectrum digestive enzyme supplement? It contains the enzyme lactase, which is responsible for the breakdown of lactose into its constituent monosaccharides, galactose and glucose. That is, lactose intolerance stems from the inability of the body to make enough (or any) of the enzyme lactase. Thus, supplying the enzyme (i.e., AbsorbMax) may help combat this intolerance. Even if you avoid dairy, which is completely understandable, then it may be of value when eating out, accidental exposure, etc.

To expand just a bit more, whereas probiotics form the foundation for gut health, digestive enzymes are the body’s front line of defense. They are charged with the responsibility of breaking down the foods we eat into their constituent nutrients. That is, while we eat foods, the body needs the macro and micronutrients, vitamins, minerals, phytonutrients, etc., that are contained within foods. Digestive enzymes are the “keys” that unlock food’s potential. In the absence of adequate digestive enzymes, food goes undigested. This means missing out on important nutrients, but perhaps more importantly means chronic inflammation, gas, bloating, food intolerances, fatigue, constipation, etc.

I hope this helps, Cindy! Please feel free to let us know if you have any additional questions.

        Sincerely,

        Tim Skwiat
        Senior Nutrition and Exercise Coach

    14. Are there any other brands of pro-biotics out there that you trust that would be a good alternative to BioTrust Pro-X10?

      • Hi Karen,

Thank you so much for reaching out to us and for offering us the opportunity to help. It is truly our privilege to do so.

With regard to your question, we cannot speak to the effectiveness, purity, or potency of another company’s products, as we do not know its quality assurance, manufacturing standards, etc.

Most importantly, in Pro-X10, we believe we have the best, most effective scientifically-backed probiotic that you’ll find on the market. This research article, written by our Head Research and Development Scientist Brett Hall, highlights several of the advantages of Pro-X10 as well as supporting research.

One of the most notable advantages of Pro-X10 is the use of the patented Microencapsulation Technology, which ensures markedly enhanced viability of the delicate probiotics both on the shelf and through the stomach. As a matter of fact, research shows that this technology increases survival of the probiotics through the stomach by a marked 500%. This means that more probiotics actually get to the gut where they need to be to colonize to confer health benefits. This very same technology also improves shelf life, as it protects the probiotics from environmental elements like heat, light, moisture, etc.

So, the short answer to your question would be that we believe Pro-X10 is the best available probiotic on the market today. Is there a reason why you’re seeking an alternative?

I hope this is helpful, Karen1

        Sincerely,

        Tim Skwiat
        Senior Nutrition and Exercise Coach

        • Tim,

I was confused as well, I was researching this probiotic online and your caption read ” you should never take Pro XI0″ I believe that is where the confusion lies.

          Tracy

          • Tim Skwiat

            Hi Tracy,

Thank you so much for sharing your feedback and for providing the additional clarification. From your vantage point, do you believe that the title of the article is misleading and is suggesting not to use BioTrust Pro-X10?

If so, we need to change that right away, as that is the exact opposite of the take-home message. :)

To be more specific, the take-home point is that you should “never” use traditional probiotic supplements because of the rates of die-off due to environmental and digestive system conditions, which kill off up to 90% or more of the probiotics).

Rather, you should use a probiotic supplement like Pro-X10, which utilizes patented micro encapsulation technology, which has been shown to enhance survival of the probiotics on the shelf and through the stomach by greater than 500%, which is necessary for the probiotics to ultimately make it to the gut for colonization.

I hope this helps, Tracy. Please let me know if you have any additional questions. Thank you!

            Sincerely,

            Tim Skwiat

    15. Hi , i am suffering from IBS, fatigue, mood swings from last 7 years….can pro x 10 help me fix these issues? if yes what is the easiest way to get it in islamabad, pakistan??

      • Hi Faraz,

Thank you so much for reaching out to us and for offering us the opportunity to help. It is truly our privilege to do so!

I do want to remind you that our products are not intended to treat, cure, or prevent any diseases such as IBS. Because we are neither doctors nor do we know your entire health history, we recommend that you discuss any specific medical-related questions—including adding supplements, changing your diet, etc.—with your healthcare professional.

That being said, we’ll gladly provide as much information and research as possible to help guide these discussions. It is important to note, however, that this information should not be misconstrued as medical guidance, which you should obtain only from qualified medical professionals.

The great news is that there is mounting research to suggest that probiotics may indeed be helpful in improving the symptoms of IBS. In that particular meta-analysis, which is an investigation of multiple existing research studies, scientists examined 8 existing studies that investigated the efficacy of probiotics in improving the symptoms of IBS patients. The researchers concluded:

“Probiotics may improve symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome and can be used as supplement to standard therapy.”

Even better news is that that is just one of several studies that have shown an improvement in IBS symptoms with the use of probiotics. Generally speaking, the cause of IBS is attributed to several factors, including inflammation, small-bowel bacterial overgrowth, and alterations in gut motility. As mentioned, probiotics have been implicated in the treatment/controlling IBS, and a multitude of studies have shown research-proven benefits:

        http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/12656692

        http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/16185307

        http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/15612887

        http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/15220671

I hope this is helpful, Faraz. If you have any additional questions, please do not hesitate to ask. We are here to help and happy to do so.

        Sincerely,

        Tim Skwiat

    16. im currently taking key biotics made by whole body research. is that good ?
Can you give me a brand of keifer that is quality. Ive researched and cannot get accurate information. Ive taken sugar out of my diet 80%, processed foods by 90% and moved to organic foods by 75%. Its been two months ive lost 50 pounds.

      • Hi Salena,

Congratulations on your outstanding body transformation! Wow, 50 pounds in two months is absolutely amazing! Kudos to you on the shift to eating fewer processed foods and focusing on one-ingredient foods. That’s a true testament to the power of simply focusing on food choices. Way to go!

Kefir is a fermented dairy drink that contains anywhere from 10-20 strains of probiotics depending on the brand and type. Whereas most yogurts contain between 1 – 5 billion CFU of probiotics, kefir contains anywhere from 7 Billion to 50 Billion active CFU’s per cup depending on the brand and type. Most yogurts are only cultured for 2-3 hours, whereas kefir is generally cultured for 12-16 hours, increasing it’s probiotic content and making it easier for digestion.

Also, most Kefir is 99% lactose free and is by far the easiest to digest type of dairy on the market due to the “predigestion” that the active cultures perform on the kefir before you drink it.

Green Valley Organic makes a lactose-free kefir, which would be a great option. Compared to “regular dairy,” organic dairy has been shown in recent research to significantly higher in Omega-3 fatty acids and conjugated linoleic acid (CLA), which dramatically enhances the nutritional quality of the food. For this reason, it would be ideal to focus on full fat versions. Nancy’s and Lifeway also make organic kefir, and Lifeway’s comes from cows that are grass-fed, which is another bonus.

With regard to probiotics, we recommend Pro-X10. Please feel free to read more about it here.

        I hope this helps, Salena!

    17. My daughter is having much trouble with candida yeast infections. Will Pro-X10 be the right formula to heal her health problems?

      • Hi Leta,

Thank you so much for reaching out to us and for offering us the opportunity to help. I am terribly sorry to hear about your daughter’s struggles with candida. As you well know, that can be quite the bugger!

That being said, I’ll be glad to share some very helpful information regarding Pro-X10 and Candida. Interestingly enough, when you research anti-fungal diets (to treat yeast problems/infections), you’ll see two commonalities amongst recommendations: 1. avoid sugar and 2. increase probiotics.

The former is because sugar is the primary “feeder” of the pathogenic bacteria in your gut, which leads to increased bad bacteria and further kills off the good bacteria. Increasing the probiotic bacteria in your gut — through probiotics like Pro-X10 and fermented foods — increases your ability to combat the high amount of bad bacteria. That’s one of the jobs of good bacteria: to fend off the bad guys.

That being said, it’s very important to highlight the potency that Saccharomyces boulardii, one of the probiotic strains included in Pro-X10, has shown in research studies. S. boulardii has been specifically shown to reduce levels of Candida albicans (the “bad” yeast that most people think of when they hear the word) via three distinct mechanisms:

*S. boulardii binds to the same receptor sites on gut walls as C. ablicans, effectively “crowding out” the bad yeast, even more so than other probiotics can.

*S. boulardii produces and excretes capric, caprylic, and caproic acids as well as other beneficial compounds. These compounds have been shown to kill C. albicans cells, as well as inhibit its ability to adhere to the intestinal lining.

*S. boulardii may decrease C. albicans in the liver, spleen and kidneys in systemic conditions as well as reduce inflammation.

On top of this, some brand new research from India was recently published that further demonstrates the effectiveness of probiotic supplementation in reducing/preventing Candida colonization. In this study, the researchers separated a 150 children recently treated with antibiotics into two groups. One group received a probiotic supplement (including Saccharomyces boulardii and four other probiotic strains that you’ll find in Pro-X10) while the other group received a placebo.

The probiotic group experienced significantly less Candida colonization, and the authors concluded, “Supplementation with probiotics could be a potential strategy to reduce gastrointestinal Candida colonization and candiduria.”

There is a laundry list of other benefits associated with Saccharomyces boulardii, which you can read about here.

        I hope this helps, Leta!

    19. Hi. I have had irregular bowel movements for years both in quality and frequency. I am 58 eat a healthy (mostly whole foods)diet, drink plenty of water and exercise regularly. Afer reading your articles about gut health, I purchased your probiotics and have been taking as prescribed for around 10 days. Since around the second day of commening the probiotics, my bowel movements have increased to anywhere between two to four/five times a day, the stools are very loose (diarrhea, the quantity is small. Just wondering about this – is it maybe an adjustment period?

      Thanks for your assistance.

      • Hi Joy,

Thanks so much for reaching out to us and for offering us the opportunity to help. Congratulations on getting started with Pro-X10, our revolutionary probiotic.

Probiotics (i.e., the good bacteria that resides in your gut) provide the foundation for gut health. Your gut (i.e., large intestine) is home to 80% of your immune system, is colloquially termed your “second brain,” and is the most metabolically active organ in the body. Populating the gut with adequate probiotics is key to optimal overall and digestive health, immune system function, mental well being, metabolism, and much, much more. Taking a probiotic (e.g., Pro-X10) every day is considered by scientists to be more important for overall health than taking a daily multivitamin.

That being said, it is not entirely uncommon for one to experience some changes in bowel function early on when commencing probiotic supplementation. As a matter of fact, it may be a sign that things are “working.”

Good bacteria are involved in a constant life and death struggle with pathogenic bacteria – it’s one of their primary tasks. They do this by damaging or killing these pathogens, sometimes by secreting chemicals, sometimes by changing the pH of the environment, and sometimes by simply crowding them out.

Here is some science to solidify this:

        http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/20413293

        http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/19389605

        http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/18221171

        http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/12215180

Essentially, the good bacteria put up a fight on a regular basis against the bacteria of a pathogenic variety. This can be accomplished via several means, including:

        * excretion of acids
        * competition for nutrients and receptor sites
        * the formation of specific microbial agents
        * modification of environmental conditions
        * modulation of the immune and non-immune defense mechanisms of the host (you)

Unfortunately, these unwelcome guests (i.e., bad bacteria) don’t go quietly, especially if they’ve inhabited your gut for any period of time. Eliminating these bad bugs can result in gas, which can in turn lead to bloating. It’s plausible to attribute constipation to this as well, or as in your case, a change in bowel movement frequency and quality. Fortunately, this is only a temporary situation. I strongly believe that long-term, regular consumption of Pro-X10 will be beneficial. It is not always an overnight solution, especially in cases of severe gut dysbiosis.

You may also consider AbsorbMax, our digestive enzyme complex. Digestive enzymes are mandatory for the proper and efficient digestion and breakdown of the foods we eat. Together, AbsorbMax and Pro-X10 are a formidable dynamic duo in the optimal conversion of the gut microbiome.

        I hope this helps, Joy!

      • I have Lupus and short bowel syndrone. Do you think it can work for me? And have loose stool all the time.

        • Hi Ann,

Thank you so much for reaching out to us and for your interest in our revolutionary probiotic Pro-X10. I would like to remind you that our products are not intended to treat, cure, or prevent any diseases. Because we are neither doctors nor do we know your entire health history, we recommend discussing any specific medical-related questions with your healthcare specialist.

That being said, the gut flora has been implicated in connection with numerous auto-immune diseases including Lupus. Specifically, new research suggests that “exposure to normal bacteria of the GI tract (gut microbes) protects against autoimmune disease,” which implies that optimizing the gut microbiome with adequate probiotics has promise in this area.

Whenever discussing gut health and overall digestive function, we’d be remiss if we didn’t mention AbsorbMax, our full spectrum digestive enzyme complex, which works synergistically with Pro-X10 to optimize the conversion of the gut microbiome.

Whereas probiotics form the foundation for gut health, digestive enzymes are the body’s front line of defense. This means missing out on important nutrients, but perhaps more importantly means chronic inflammation, as undigested food particles send the immune system out of whack.

Digestive enzymes may have specific value in cases of short bowel syndrome, as the small intestine is normally a significant site of digestion and absorption.

          I hope this helps, Ann!

    20. Hello Tim –
Thank you for your lengthy response. It was helpful. My daughter is currently using a digestive enzyme and taking Omega 3 fatty acids. I believe that a potent probiotic, such as Pro-X10 would be a welcome addition. I will suggest the dosage that you propose.
      Best,
      Susan

    21. My GI doctor thinks I have IBS – gas, bloating, ropelike soft stool, sometimes torn up, watery, mucousy. He prescribed the generic lomotil. Later my internist prescribed amytriptylin. They both had about the same effect of drying (most wonderful for sinus drainage) with some slowing of the rampage in my gut. As this pro x10 seems to be for constipation, I am not sure about using it for my problem. What do you say?

    22. we have 11 yr old son with autism – md suggested probiotics – he will not swallow a pill though. currently using klaire labs powder and putting into applesauce. can your capsules be opened up and put into food? will it still work that way?

      • Hi Denise,

Thanks so much for reaching out to us and offering us the opportunity to help you.

Pro-X10 may certainly be opened and added directly to food, as the capsule itself only acts as a means to determine the appropriate serving size. It does not assist with transit of the bacteria in any way.

I hope this helps, and please do let me know if I can be of further assistance.

        Sincerely,

      • Hi Denise,

Thank you so much for reaching out to us and for offering us the opportunity to help. I definitely think you’re on the right track in your probiotics research. As a matter of fact, brand new research from the peer-reviewed journal Cell suggests that there is a direct connection between the gut microbiota and autism-like behaviors. While this research took place in a rat model, it is very promising and suggests future development in probiotic therapy in humans.

That being said, it is completely acceptable to empty the contents of Pro-X10 and mix it in food or drink for administration. This is not a problem, nor will it reduce its effectiveness.

I hope this helps! Please keep us posted, and please let us know if you have any additional questions. Thanks, Denise!

    23. Your video says that Probiotics sold by many suppliers are very old (at least 1 year) before we purchase them, and as such are mostly “dead” have lost their ability to give any benefit.
However you also offer bulk orders of 6 bottles being 6 months worth. By the time I received the bulk order, and eventually consumed the 6 bottle it could also be well over a year, and therefore containing capsules which are basically dead. Am I missing something here?
Could you explain the effects that time will have on a bulk order of your Probiotics?
      regards
      Kevon

      • Hi Kevon,

Thanks so much for reaching out to us and offering us the opportunity to help you.

As you have already alluded to, research shows that after one year on the shelf in a sealed bottle at room temperature, on average only 32% of conventionally produced probiotics survive. Knowing this challenge, BioTrust sought a means to stabilize the live cells, both on the shelf and through the harsh acidic environment of the stomach.

With Pro-X10, we utilize a revolutionary technology called Microencapsulation. This technology encases the live cells in a lipid matrix that protects the bacteria from oxygen, light, acids, bile, etc. By doing so, we are able to dramatically enhance the survival of cells both on the shelf and through the stomach.

Pro-X10 is also best when used within two years of the manufactured date. Pro-X10 does not “expire” at that time. Rather, the manufacturer suggests the “best by” date of two years post-manufacture for optimal potency.

I hope this helps, and if you have any other questions, please do not hesitate to ask.

        Sincerely,

        Brian Murray

    25. I understand that the probiotics are susceptible to temperatures. We are having extreme cold temps now and a lot of the handlers will be loading their trucks and shipping in sub-zero weather. What about them freezing and dying?

      • Hi William,

Thank you so much for reaching out to us and providing us the opportunity to help. You’re absolutely right, probiotics are indeed very volatile living organisms. Changes in temperature and other environmental conditions can kill them.

However, the exact same microencapsulation technology that we use to keep the probiotics in Pro-X10 viable through the stomach also protects the probiotics from these very environmental conditions. I encourage you to read the following article for additional reference:

    27. I have been gaining weight for three years since I had breast cancer treatment. I have bad acid reflux from the drugs I have to take. What would you recommend to take to stop the acid production and loose weight

      • Hello Sheila,

Thanks so much for reaching out to us and offering us the opportunity to help you.

It is important to note that our products are not designed to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any illnesses. Because we are neither doctors nor do we know your entire medical history, we recommend that you discuss any specific medical-related questions with your physician. Please do not stop taking any medications without proper approval.

It is largely believed that probiotics can be helpful when dealing with an issue like heartburn/GERD. Coach Tim has actually talks about this a lot, so I have highlighted his thoughts below:

Heartburn, or GERD, can be a tricky subject, especially when one has used medication, as you have. Generally speaking, most people think that heartburn is the result of too much stomach acid, and that’s why they resort to acid reducers (i.e., Tums and prescription or OTC medications). However, heartburn can actually be the result of too little stomach acid.

When we eat food, it travels down our throats through our esophagus and then enters the stomach. There is a muscle, called a sphincter, that closes off between the esophagus and stomach because the latter if a very harsh environment (with acid and enzymes) to break down the foods.

It’s when that sphincter muscle doesn’t close properly is when we actually experience heartburn, or acid reflux. Taking acid reducers to deal with this problem actually can cause further digestive issues over time. The acid that our stomachs produce is necessary for the digestive process.

This article does a good job of explaining heartburn:

        http://chriskresser.com/get-rid-of-h…e-simple-steps

Research shows that bacterial overgrowth (of the bad variety) plays a significant role in the development of GERD. Addressing the gut’s microbiota, therefore, becomes increasingly important in overcoming the symptoms. This implies that probiotics play a major factor.

One of the major functions of good bacteria is to fight and eliminate that bad, which are likely causing heartburn. In addition, it also becomes important to watch what you eat, as certain foods kill off the good bacteria in your gut and also act as fuel for the bad bacteria.

I do think that Pro-X10 can help with GERD. I think the combination of Pro-X10 and AbsorbMax, our comprehensive digestive enzyme supplement, would be an even more potent one-two punch than either of them alone.

I hope this helps, Sheila. Please let us know if we can be of further assistance.

        Sincerely,

        Brian Murray

    28. I have Chronic Colonic Inertia. Can I take Pro X10?.

      • Hi Robin,

Thank you so much for reaching out to us and offering us the opportunity to help. We are very sorry to learn of your condition.

Our products are not intended to treat, cure, or prevent any diseases. Because we are neither doctors nor do we know your entire health history, we recommend that you discuss any specific medical-related questions with your healthcare professional. Please do not stop taking any prescription medications without proper approval.

Although there are a variety of causes for chronic colonic inertia, it is essentially a form of constipation. Probiotics have been implicated in the successful treatment of constipation, and an improvement in bowel movement frequency and quality is a typical result of probiotic supplementation. As a result, it may be a very good idea to discuss supplementation of Pro-X10 with your healthcare professional.

In addition, food intolerances are often associated with constipation. For example, colonic inertia has been attributed to consumption of dairy, which contains a sugar called lactose. Without adequate lactase, the enzyme charged with the responsibility of breaking down lactose, this molecule can go undigested, which can cause constipation amongst a variety of other symptoms. For this reason, you may consider discussing the addition of AbsorbMax, our comprehensive digestive enzyme supplement, to your arsenal as well.

        I hope this helps, Robin!

        Sincerely,

        Tim Skwiat
        Senior Nutrition and Exercise Coach

    29. I am suffering from constant gut issues that cause me not have an appetite therefore not able to gain weight. I am underweight at 5’5 I only weigh 100lbs. Can I take pro-x 10 to help my gut be regular and actually be able to eat more ?

      • Hi Jeannie,

Thank you so much for reaching out to us and for offering us the opportunity to help. I do want to remind you that our products are not intended to treat, cure, or prevent any diseases. Because we are neither doctors nor do we know your entire health history, we recommend that you discuss any specific medical-related questions with your healthcare professional. Please do not stop taking any prescription medications without your doctor’s approval.

That being said, when it comes to gut-related issues, Pro-X10 and AbsorbMax have to be on your radar. Home to 80% of your immune system and colloquially termed the “second brain,” your gut microbiota and probiotics play an intricate role in optimizing overall and digestive health, immune system function, mental well being, metabolism, and much, much more. Research indicates that inadequate amounts of probiotics in the gut are related to over 170 different diseases. It is certainly plausible to speculate that getting your gut in order through probiotic supplementation can help you improve your overall and digestive health. What kind of “gut issues” do you experience?

On top of that, AbsorbMax, our comprehensive digestive enzyme supplement, should also be of consideration. While probiotics form the foundation of digestive health, digestive enzymes are on the front line of defense, as they are charged with the responsibility of breaking down the foods we eat into their constituent nutrients. Essentially, enzymes are the key that unlocks the nutrient potential of food. You see, while we eat food, the body craves nutrients. Without adequate digestive enzymes, the nutrient potential of food is never fully realized and myriad health issues ensue.

Furthermore, I’d recommend our all-natural, time-released protein supplement BioTrust Low Carb. When appetite is an issue, it is an outstanding idea to opt for a meal replacement shake like BioTrust Low Carb. You can easily blend into nutrient- and calorie-dense smoothies, which will ultimately help you increase your body weight.

        I hope this helps, Jeannie!

        Sincerely,

        Tim

    30. I am taking BioTrust to facilitate bowel movements. I have taken it AM and PM for a week now. How long would you say I need to take this on a regular basis before my movements are regular and are not strained?

      • Hey Dorothy,

Thanks so much for reaching out to us, and congratulations on your recent purchase of Pro-X10.

While constipation isn’t something everyone will endure, both Coach Tim and I believe that it’s a sign that things are “working” and the gut microbiota is being positively transformed.

It’s a common scientific fact that good bacteria are involved in a constant life and death struggle with pathogenic bacteria – it’s one of their primary tasks. They do this by damaging or killing these pathogens, sometimes by secreting chemicals, sometimes by changing the pH of the environment, and sometimes by simply crowding them out.

Essentially, the good bacteria put up a fight on a regular basis against the bacteria of a pathogenic variety. This can be accomplished via several means, including:

        * excretion of acids
        * competition for nutrients and receptor sites
        * the formation of specific microbial agents
        * modification of environmental conditions

It’s plausible to attribute constipation to this as well. Fortunately, this is only a temporary situation. I strongly believe that long-term, regular consumption of Pro-X10 will be beneficial. It is not always an overnight solution, especially in cases of severe gut dysbiosis.

        I hope this helps, Dorothy.

    31. Will this probiotic help with menopausal symptons like hot flashes? I was told that probiotics do and found some that helped for a little while. Just looking for something that will work long term not to mention reducing my belly fat.

      • Hi Sarita,

Thank you so much for your interest in our revolutionary probiotic, Pro-X10. I do believe that you’re on the right track in looking into probiotics and the gut flora for menopausal symptoms. There is research to suggest that isoflavones, which are typically utilized in treating menopausal symptoms, are most effective when a probiotic is also consumed, as the probiotics enhance the biological activity of said compounds.

Furthermore, there is myriad scientific evidence to suggest that probiotics provide specific health benefits to women. When you start discussing the various symptoms commmon in menopausal women, even greater application can be found, as probiotics have been shown to be effective in preventing urinary tract infections and yeast infections.

No discussion of digestive health would be complete without mentioning AbsorbMax, our comprehensive digestive enzyme supplement. While probiotics lay the foundation for overall and digestive health, enzymes are digestive system’s front line of defense, as they are charged with the responsibility of completely breaking down the foods we eat into their constituent nutrients.

AbsorbMax and Pro-X10 work hand-in-hand to convert the gut microbiome, which is necessary to optimize overall and digestive health, immune system function, mental well being, metabolism, and much, much more.

        I hope this helps, Sarita!

    32. Sorry i may just be missing something but why is the article called “never use this type of Probiotic.” ????

      • Hi Ren,

Thanks so much for sharing your question with us and for allowing us to help. As Coach Josh said, it’s critical to opt for a probiotic that utilizes microencapsulation technology to ensure survival on the shelf as well as through the stomach. As the article highlights, the overwhelming majority of probiotic supplements are not microencapsulated like Pro-X10.

    34. Hi there, just want to know how to store my Pro-X10? Fridge? Cupboard? Just concerned about heat as we are approaching Summer here in Australia.

      Thanks so much!

      Dani

      • Hello Dani,

Thank you so much for reaching out to us and offering us the opportunity to help you.

Because probiotics are living bacteria, they are very sensitive to the slightest change in environmental conditions. Many probiotic bacteria are sensitive to heat and moisture. Even a modest elevation in temperature can kill these volatile cells over a short period of time, while moisture can activate them within pills (only to die due to lack of nutrients and a proper environment).

Research shows that after one year on the shelf in a sealed bottle at room temperature, on average only 32% of conventionally produced probiotics survive.

What’s more, probiotics with freeze-dried organisms that are packaged properly to prevent moisture generally do not require refrigeration. Further, some yeasts and spore-forming bacteria do not require refrigeration.

For these reasons, it is not mandatory to refrigerate or freeze your Pro-X10. We recommend that you store your bottle in a cool, dry place out of direct sunlight. You are more than welcome, however, to refrigerate your Pro-X10.

        I hope this helps,

        Sincerely,

      • Hi Maram,

Thanks so much for reaching out to us and for offering us the opportunity to assist you.

We recommend that you consult with your physician regarding any changes in your diet or exercise habits or before commencing any supplementation while pregnant.

With that being said, here is an article that appeared in the journal Canadian Family Physician regarding the safety of probiotics when taken during pregnancy and lactation:

        http://www.cfp.ca/content/57/3/299.full

As you can see, the doctors reviewed the existing research and concluded with the following:

“Probiotics do not appear to pose any safety concerns for pregnant and lactating women. Systemic absorption is rare when probiotics are used by healthy individuals, and the current literature does not indicate an increase in adverse pregnancy outcomes.”

Research has also shown that maternal supplementation with probiotics during pregnancy and breast-feeding reduces the risk of eczema in newborn children:

Also, Maram, it’s important to note that Pro-X10, like all BioTrust products, is 100% all-natural, which means no artificial ingredients of any kind. It is completely free of all allergens and is non-GMO.

        I hope this helps!

        Sincerely,

    36. My husband and I have been taking the Wellformative “Gut Defense” monthly delivery of 2 bottles. I believe we got it through your website.
Now you’re telling me we shouldn’t be taking it??

      • Hi Nancy,

Thanks so much for reaching out to us and offering us the opportunity to assist you. We do not manufacture or sell a product by that name. Our probiotic is called Pro-X10, which you can also learn more about here.

We are confident that Pro-X10 is the best probiotic available on the market today.

If there is anything else we can do to help, please let us know. Thanks, Nancy!

    37. What is the best way to take Pro-X10? I’ve read that probiotics are best to take 30 min prior to meal. The directions on Pro-X10 suggest to take it with food.

      • Hello Mila,

Thank you for your message and for allowing us to aid in your nutrition and health with our top of line and scientifically backed products.

Generally speaking, most folks recommend taking their traditionally-produced probiotic supplements on an empty stomach because the acid content of the stomach will potentially be lower. As we know, probiotics are very volatile living bacteria, and research shows that stomach acid can kill off up to 80% of these friendly bacteria.

BioTrust Pro-X10™ is a far cry from your conventionally-produced probiotic. We use the patented microencapsulation technology, which utilizes a lipid matrix that protects our probiotics from the acid of the stomach as well as enhances their shelf-life (only about 32% of traditionally-produced probiotics make it one year on the shelf).

Further, the soluble fibers in food can (and do) act as “prebiotic” food for probiotics. We recommend taking Pro-X10™ about 15 minutes before your meals.

        Best,
        Team BioTrust

    38. Can women take this probiotic if they have breast cancer is it safe for me.

      • Hi Nicole,

First of all, on behalf of BioTrust, we are terribly sorry to hear of your battle with cancer. That being said, we are inspired by your fight and you standing up to the disease. It is our privilege to be a resource for you.

Pro-X10 is manufactured using a patented microencapsulation technology that is completely allergen-free. Overall, we must recommend that you consult with your physician/oncologist for proper approval, as we cannot speak on their behalves.

That being said, it is incredibly important to note the role of probiotics — and an optimal gut microbiota — as it relates to the immune system. Approximately 80% of your immune system resides in your gut, and the gut microflora plays a significant role in the health and strength of your immune system. As a matter of fact, research is churning out daily suggesting that daily supplementation with a probiotic is far more important for your overall health than a daily multivitamin.

I did come across some research that suggests that probiotics may have a beneficial effect on breast cancer:

Just to reiterate, we are not medically trained professionals, and we recommend that you ultimately seek the assistance of your physician for proper approval. I did want to share with you some specific information that could be helpful in your assessment.

Keep up the great work, Nicole. If there is anything else that we can do to assist you along the way, please do not hesitate to ask.

        My best,

    39. Gain 6 lbs.

Using biotrust. Thought I would lose . Didn’t eat more , but less . Workout reclined station art bike 20 min et every day
still wqent up on scale .

      • Hi Tom,

Thank you so much for reaching out to us and offering us the opportunity to help you. It is truly our privilege to be your resource for honest nutrition and health information.

Can you tell us a little bit more about your nutrition plan? Can you please also tell us more about what supplements you used? Also, how long have you been taking the supplements? The more information that we have, the better we’ll be able to assist you toward your goals.

Have you had your body composition checked? Some folks only use the scale as a reference, which isn’t always the best indicator of progress. For example, it’s completely possible for some people to add calorie-burning lean muscle mass while dropping some fat. If the former outweighs the latter, then a net increase in weight will be realized. Alas, this is still a dramatic and highly sought improvement in body composition.

If possible, please elaborate, Tom. We truly value the opportunity to help you, and we know that you invested in BioTrust supplements to achieve improved health and fitness. We want to make sure that you achieve the results you deserve.

      • Gaining weight does not necessarily mean gaining fat. There’s a significant difference. When I work out, the last thing I do is look at the scale. My maximum weight happens (192lbs) to coincide with the smallest size I’ve been as an adult (women’s size 4). I’m currently 30 pounds /lighter/; but, I’m also four sizes larger (size 12). I’ve had to stop working out and my muscle has degenerated and the fat has piled on. ((Yes, I’m putting myself back on my priority list and getting back into the gym)). Muscle is significantly heavier than fat. You should be measuring your body fat and how your clothes fit, not necessarily eyeing your weight….especially at just six pounds. A body can fluctuate as much as 8 pounds in a single day just based on what was consumed throughout the day.

        • My 18 yr old daughter has anxiety issues, and digestive problems. She was recently diagnosed with IBS, after other more serious problems were ruled out. She gets sharp intestinal pain, bloating, and fluctuations between constipation and loose stool. She also experiences chills and malaise every few weeks like she has a stomach bug. A gastroenterologist put her on Bentyl and Prilosec, and an SSRI. She was raised in a holistic household on whole foods. Adding more fermented foods is helpful, but she is in college 800 mi away now, on a food plan. We have tried other probiotics, without any big results. Enzymes (Digest Gold) seems to help some. I am thinking about giving your product a try. How long do you think it would take to see a result?

          • Tim Skwiat

            Hi Susan,

Thank you so much for reaching out to us and for offering us the opportunity to help. We sincerely appreciate the information that you shared about your daughter, and we are very sorry to hear that she struggles with such a variety of health issues.

While our products are not intended to treat, cure, or prevent any diseases, I do believe that you’re spot on by investigating probiotics and digestive enzymes. However, because we are neither doctors nor do we know your daughter’s entire health history, we recommend that you discuss any specific medical-related questions with your daughter’s healthcare specialist.

Taking a probiotic (e.g., Pro-X10) every day is considered to be more important for overall health than taking a daily multivitamin.

Whereas probiotics form the foundation for gut health, digestive enzymes are the body’s front line of defense. This means missing out on important nutrients, but perhaps more importantly means chronic inflammation, as undigested food particles send the immune system out of whack.

Thus, it’s no secret that digestive problems go hand-in-hand with mental well being. I do think that you’re on the right track by considering Pro-X10 and AbsorbMax. I would also consider adding Omega Dessert into the discussion.

Specifically, studies show that the omega-3 fatty acids (e.g., EPA and DHA) found in fish are beneficial for those who experience mood disorders including seasonal affective disorder and depression. Typically, the best way to get these fatty acids and a healthy outlook is in supplement form – it’s convenient and safe.

Interest in fish oils for mood began when researchers learned that patients suffering from depression had lower levels of EPA in their blood and fat cells. In fact, the lower the patient’s EPA, the more severe the depression seemed to be. Follow-up studies then revealed that omega-3 essential fatty acids positively influenced mood for those suffering from depression

It appears that it’s the EPA component of fish oil that acts as a mood stabilizer and often works when a person otherwise does not respond to any other form of treatment for depression. Controlled studies published in the American Journal of Psychiatry concluded that compared to placebo, EPA could also boost the effectiveness of standard anti-depressant medication while reducing associated insomnia and tempering the aggression associated with some conditions.

I know this is a very circuitous route to answer your question, and I appreciate you bearing with me. Simply put, we are incredibly passionate about helping folks improve their health, fitness, and vitality.

Generally speaking, we would recommend a minimum of one month of supplementation of Pro-X10 to assess its effectiveness. That being said, in cases of severe gut dysbiosis, one may strongly consider doubling the recommended dosage (2 capsules twice daily) for a period of two weeks to expedite the conversion of the gut microbiome.

            I hope this helps, Susan!

            Sincerely,

            Tim Skwiat
